Governance Structure

All data tables set up by PESB will require a governance structure where three people will need to be identified.  Smaller programs may have one person handling more than one responsibility.  These responsibilities are limited to one data set, the Completer Table.
  • Executive Sponsor - The position that is responsible for data use throughout the organization.
  • Data Owner - This person has the authority to collect the data.  Owners are accountable for the creation, definition, security, and integrity of the data.
  • Data Steward - This person has the ability to collect the data.  Stewards have day-to-day responsibility for the data and must be subject-matter experts.  Steward is not a position, but a responsibility, it is essential that they are influential and respected within the organization.

Communication
As this project grows we are finding the need for us to define distribution lists so that we can tailor communications more effectively.  
  • Executive Sponsor List  - This list would receive communications very infrequently.
  • Data Owner List - This list would receive invitations for the Higher Ed Data Group meetings and general updates on the project.
  • Data Steward List - This list would receive specific technical updates and support.
